Titan Awning and Casement Windows — Structural Margin in Hand

Titan carries the highest ultimate pressure of our three main residential awning systems — 2250 Pa — which makes it our usual pick when a project needs N4 with some margin in hand.

What it is and where we use it

Titan is the heaviest of our three residential awning and casement systems. It shares the glazing range and hardware family with Comet and Apollo; what distinguishes it is structural capacity, on both the test bench and the hinge.

Wind rating and tested performance

Our Titan awning tested to N4 under AS 2047, with 2250 Pa ultimate pressure and 1000 Pa water penetration resistance. The test covered a two-lite awning and fixed lite window. The test report states the N4 rating without separating exposed and non-exposed positions, so we'd confirm the exposure requirement for your specific site.

Energy performance and glazing options

The standard sash takes 4, 5 or 6mm single glazing, 8 to 12mm wet glazed, or double glazed units from 18 to 24mm — the same range as Comet and Apollo, with certified energy figures close across the three. Double glazed, Titan's tested acoustic result is Rw 28.

Awnings vs casements in this range

Titan builds both off the same sash sections — awnings hinge at the top and shed rain better on wide openings; casements hinge at the side, suit tall narrow openings and catch cross-breezes. Casement hardware is sized on sash width: the stays we use cater for sashes up to about 1000mm wide and 40kg, so very wide casements are split into multiple sashes.

Sizes and hardware

Stay hardware governs sash size: the compact stay suits sashes to around 300mm at 8kg, mid-range stays to 800mm at 20kg, and the largest handles sashes up to 1800mm high at 30kg — the biggest awning sash capacity in our residential range. Chain winders as standard, single to 1000mm sash height and double above.

What we'd recommend it for

Projects that need N4 with structural headroom — larger sashes, more exposed sites, or schedules where the engineer's pressures sit near the top of what a residential awning covers. If Titan's margin still isn't enough, the conversation moves to our commercial systems.
