Apollo Awning Windows — Built for Exposed, Rain-Hit Elevations

Apollo's headline number is water: 1000 Pa penetration resistance, the strongest of our residential awning systems. That's why it's our usual recommendation for the elevations Melbourne weather actually attacks — western and southwestern walls catching driving rain with no eave protection.

What it is and where we use it

Apollo is one of our three residential awning and casement systems, sharing hardware and glazing options with Comet and Titan. Where it earns its place is exposure: when a window is going into an unprotected wall, its water resistance figure is what we look at first.

Wind rating and tested performance

Our Apollo awning tested to N4 in the general position and N3 in corner positions under AS 2047, with 1200 Pa serviceability and 1000 Pa water penetration resistance. That water figure is the strongest of our residential awning systems, and for exposed Melbourne elevations we treat it as at least as important as the wind class. As always, the corner rating is the one that applies to windows in corner zones, so we check the schedule position before confirming.

Energy performance and glazing options

Apollo takes the same glazing range as Comet and Titan — 4, 5 and 6mm single glazed and 18 to 24mm double glazed units — and its certified energy figures sit close to the other two across the shared make-ups. The choice between the three is rarely an energy decision.

Hardware

Chain winders as standard, with the same finish range as our other awning systems. Stay hardware follows sash size and weight — the range runs from compact stays for small sashes up to stays handling 1800mm at 30kg.

What we'd recommend it for

Exposed elevations. If the window faces weather with no eave, verandah or recess protecting it — particularly west and southwest — Apollo is where we'd start. Its N4 general rating covers typical Melbourne requirements, and the 1000 Pa water figure gives margin the minimums don't require.
